Gyms may be opening up, but workouts from home will always be there for you if you need them or you are not totally ready to go back yet!

Anyone else love being able to just roll out of bed, maybe half pajamas, right into their workout? You don’t have to worry about squatting with see-through leggings on because at-home, nobody will even notice! You don’t have to worry about waiting on a piece of equipment, other people’s sweat in your face, or driving anywhere. Get in your workout at home and you are ready for your day!

I know it’s not all butterflies and rainbows though. If you are working from home, sleeping, eating, chilling all in your home– it may be very difficult to have the motivation to get a workout in too. So how do you actually get your workout in from your very own home? I’ll give you some tips today that will stay successful in completing your movement for the day!

1. Designate Your Workout Area

This one is important. Having your own space to get your movement in will make it separate from your work or home life. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a big space, it just has to be in an area where there won’t be as many distractions. Set the mood of the room with your favorite playlist. 2. Create a Schedule and Stick To It

Consistency is key for everything. Wake up at the same time, eat breakfast at the same time, and workout at the exact same time every day (or however many days a week you want to workout). Put a meeting on your calendar for yourself. No one is allowed to book in that hour because it’s yours! You come first, so take care of that body of yours.

3. Plan, Plan, Plan

You have your workout area and you have your schedule, so what do you actually do to workout? Make a plan! If you are new to working out, I would suggest following a plan made by a certified personal trainer (hey, the TL Method can do that for you!) You can also plan out the outfit that you are going to wear. I actually plan my outfits out every single night even though I may not get in my workout until later on in the morning or day. The outfit is already on, so I’m more likely to successfully complete my workout. Planning is so necessary to keep your at-home workouts alive!

4. Eliminate Distractions

Throw on a playlist and then turn your phone on airplane mode. Close your computer. Shut the door. Put on headphones. Do whatever you need to do to make sure that you don’t get distracted 15 minutes into your workout trying to answer an Instagram DM.

5. Find Your Team

Working out at home is really tough if you love working out with people and the community of a gym. Either try and schedule a Zoom or Facetime workout with a friend, or hold yourself accountable by joining a Facebook group you know will keep you motivated! Just because you are not in person, doesn’t mean you can’t have an amazing group of people as your teammates long term.

6. Use a Mirror to Watch Your Form

It’s easy to get sloppy at home, especially if you are used to taking group classes and having the trainer tell you how to do something properly. A mirror will help you watch your form on certain movements. Check in with these tips to make sure you stay injury free at home. Don’t have a tall mirror? Film yourself and have a trainer watch your form to give you some tips!

7. Keep Track of Your Progress

Use a calendar printout or a journal to remember the workouts you did and how you felt after each one. You will be able to find out what kinds of workouts you like the best and watch your progress in your own home.

How do you feel about your workouts at home? It’s been nearly three months of being at home so this “new normal” could look like a really great new routine for you!
